THE ORANGE PIGEON - AUSTRALIAS ONLY CHARITY THAT IS FOR SERIOUSLY ILL ADULTS.

THERE MISSION: Is to bring comfort and distraction into peoples lives who are seriouly ill.

COMPANY OVERVIEW: The Orange Pigeon Inc is a non profit orgination indorsed with the Australian Taxation Office, which provides wishes and moments of distraction to adults with serious illness. They are the ONLY oraganistion that offers this service to adults in Australia.

WHY I LOVE THE ORANGE PIGEON.!!!!

Late 2013 I contacted Jenny who is the founder of The Orange Pigeon to see if she could help us make a dream come true for a friend Krissy who was dying from Cancer . Her dream was to take her 3 young children to Qld . Jenny was on board and helped so much .

 I was impressed by the charity as when I had started looking for charities to help I was shocked that there were none for adults. There were organistions like make a wish foundation but they were for kids,this is the only one of its kind in Australia.

Jenny started this charity for personal reasons herself. Her best friend Nadine was seriously ill with cancer and there were no charitys to help. So she along with amazing volunteers started this extraodinary charity.

I cant believe there is no other charities for adults. Lets face it we all know someone over 18 years of ages who is seriously ill, and they deserve help and wishes too. 

I could go on about them forever the amount of love and support they give to the families and friends of the sick person is so touching. Jenny would keep me updates on Krissies trip plans, even when Krissy lost her fight on the 2nd of March 2014 , Jenny contacted me and her and some people from the charity all came to the funeral.

I believe she is an angel sent here to help others ,she is so selfless,caring, kind, sweet,friendly and hard working is amazes me, she spends hours upon hours as do the volunteers trying to help others have a memory to remember before they leave this world. 

The wishes they grant can be different in every case, Some people would like to see family that live interstae or overseas and they help them with airfares. Some people just want to be comfortable in the last stretch of their lives so there wish might be a new comfy bed or a new Tv or chair to sit on. Every wish is different and The Orange Pigeon will help them as much as they can.

I just believe that in our lifetime we may need help from a charity like The Orange Pigeon we all grow up and we know someone over the 18 who is or has been sick and with places and people like this why not help anyway we can.

GETTING HEALTHY MY PERSONAL JOURNEY

This is a blog about me and how I decided this year to make a big change. 

I have never been a skinny girl Ive always been known as Deb the big blonde girl. 

I know now how lucky I was as kid being the bigger girl that I wasnt bullied or picked on. To be a kid/teen and  be over weight these days can be really hard , as people cyber bully and write things all over social media..I was never a bully I was always the clown I guess I hid behind my weight with humor.I had plenty of friends and boyfriends too haha. 

I have never really worried about my weight and actually I'm not that worried now. On the 1st of march I decided to GET HEALTHY .

I had already quit caffine 1/6/2014 that was huge in its self, I drank alot of coke and energy drinks daily . When I quit them I was grateful I was big because I looked like a junkie while I was getting off it and  detoxing. I had the shakes and headaches for weeks.

Now I just want to change my lifestyle I dont want to live on diets and shakes that stuff never works or lasts.I had a good chat with my doctor and decided any little change is a good change for the better.

I have the best support from my close friends and my family.A friend I grew up with Lisa she is a personal trainer for LA DIAMOND and she has been amazing giving me the encouragement and help I needed to start she doesnt live close by but always checks up on me and progress.

I like to have dates when I do things so I can keep track, so I decided the 1st of march was my day to change. 

*NO MORE SOFT DRINKS

*NO MORE JUNK FOOD

*ANY EXERCISE IS BETTER THAN NONE

*CHEATS DAYS ARE A MUST OR I KNOW ME AND ILL QUIT.

*TELL THE WORLD SO ITS OUT THERE AND YOU CANT GO BACK ON IT

It wasnt easy to change my life style,when you have not cared for so many years, but I have stuck with it .

 I walk most mornings and have started yoga and meditating.

I have never been able to shut my brain off but I found this silly app on my tablet and now i can mediatate I love switching off now,I have insomina so meditating has been helping me drift of to sleep with a clear head.

Aswell as all of the above I also made a plan with a friend Nicole to go and see a personal trainer.His name is Shanyne (from FORMICA FIT)and he has changed my life, every monday night we train with him and now we are going 2 days a week.

Alot of people have asked why I keep going usually people go and get the tools they need and do it on there own. I love the one on one training I cant slack off because he is there to keep me going. I also like that I learn something new everytime I see him.

I remember the first time he wanted me to do a sit-up I didnt even know if I could." When was the last time you did one "he said. My response was probably in year 7 sports. Who does sit ups for the sake of doing one unless your working out (which I never did). Then there was planking oh my god had never heard of it. Wow that was really hard I couldnt even stay up for 5 seconds. I know your laughing inside but remember I had never worked out. Now every weeek I am getting better with it all and when I get home and I'm sore and run a hot shower, I think of all I have learnt and the new excerises I can now do.

Boxing is my favourite thing to do I just love taking my anger out on the bag or poor Nicole who is holding the pads .

We always have a laugh and every session she will with out a doubt complain to which he will always make us to do ...She will never learn she is just lucky I love her hahahahaha.

So I will keep updating my progress and thoughts as I continue to go on this life changing journey .

One thing I am lucky for is the people in my life who are encouraging me and keeping me on the right track, Thanks guys you all know who you are xoxo

BIG FISH AQUARIUM in Melton

Any one that knows me knows how much I love my 3 turtles and my gold fish. I have 2 tanks and a fish pond.I am forever buying something new for the tanks or pond.

So a few weeks ago I was told about the Big Fish Aquarium by my friends James and Tammy.

I had gone in to get some feeder fish for my turtles and was blown away by not only the pricing and how cheap it was  but how friendly and helpful the staff were.The first time I went in I was served by a guy called Darren and he loved fish as much as me he was so friendly and helpful I was just so impressed by his service. 

I had brought some baby gold fish for my pond ( they call them feeder fish) I was shocked you get 10 for $10.00 . I knew no where of a place you can get gold fish that cheap.

Next I brought some guppies (they also call these feeder fish)and was shocked when they were 20 for $10.00. This is what they look like . 

 

Years ago I used to breed them as they have live babies and it is such a fun process watching them give birth and then watching then grow. The male fish have beautiful bright tails. These fish can sell for up to $4.95 a fish , so imagine my surprise when I go into the Big Fish aquarium and I see a sign for 20 for $10.00... That's right it was that cheap ,so far I have brought about 100 . 

I then fell in love with the bigger gold fish they had there and every week I have been buying a few. First I had to get lips 

 

 

 

Then came Mick(who I named after my boss) 

 Then Parker after a junior at my work (she look like she is wearing make-up)

 

Then came Moe ( because he looks like he has a mustache ) 

 

 

Then came Tiger . 

 

 

I also have alot of other different types of goldfish too.

Today when I went in I was going to buy more fish and started talking to one of the owners Luke ,he and his wife Jenna own the Big Fish aquarium we started chatting and I asked him how he came up with name . He told me how it was going to be called westside aquarium because it's was on the west side . Then his graphic designer said the name needed to be catchy and they then asked there 2 year old little girl Georgia what should they call it and she said Big Fish so that's how the name Big Fish Aquarium began . They have been in melton for just over year and it's a family business it was always their dream to open one . 

I honestly can't stop raving about the amazing prices and service you get there . You can tell when someone loves there job and have a passion and they surly do . So make sure if your in Melton or popping thru to pop in .
